This Privacy Policy explains how the W Japan Ambassador Program, operated by the W Hotels brand team at Marriott International (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects information you provide when you apply to the program or interact with this website.
1. Who we are
The W Japan Ambassador Program is a creator partnership initiative run by the W Hotels brand team at Marriott International. The data controller for personal information collected through this website is Marriott International, Inc.
2. What we collect
When you submit an application, we collect the information you provide, including:
- Your name, email address, and location (city and country)
- The languages you create in
- The social media platforms you create on and the public handles you choose to share
- A description of the content you produce and your audience
- An optional link to a portfolio or media kit
- Your written response describing your interest in the program

3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Review and evaluate your application
- Respond to you regarding the status of your application, including decision communications
- Coordinate program logistics if you are selected (travel, stays, payments, campaigns)
- Improve the application experience and the program based on aggregate, de-identified analysis
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse of the program
4. Who we share with
We share your information only with the parties needed to operate the program:
- Members of the W Hotels brand team and Marriott International staff who review applications and manage selected ambassadors
- Vetted service providers who process bookings, payments, and email delivery on our behalf, under appropriate confidentiality terms
- Regulatory or law enforcement bodies when required by law or to protect our legal rights
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your application content with other applicants or use it for advertising outside the program.
5. How long we keep your data
Application data is retained for the duration of the current ambassador class cycle and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can consider applicants for future cohorts. Selected ambassadors’ records are retained for the duration of their engagement and afterwards in accordance with Marriott’s standard record-retention policies and applicable law.
You can request earlier deletion at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

7. International transfers
Because Marriott International is a global company, your information may be processed in countries other than where you reside, including in the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms to ensure appropriate protection when personal information is transferred internationally.
8. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No system is completely secure, but we work to apply industry-standard protections and to respond promptly to any incident.
9. Minors
The W Japan Ambassador Program is open to applicants aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. Selected ambassadors who are minors in their country of residence may be required to provide parental or guardian consent before travel and program participation.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice on the site or by email where appropriate.
